Restaurant Style Butter Chicken | बटर चिकन रेस्टौरंट जैसा | Homemade Chicken | Kunal Kapur Recipes

Ingredients:

  • 500g chicken (estimate)
  • 2 shallots chopped (estimate)
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste (estimate)
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste (estimate)
  • 3 tomatoes chopped (estimate)
  • 2 tbsp butter (estimate)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (estimate)
  • 1 tsp red chili powder (estimate)
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala (estimate)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (estimate)
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (estimate)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) (estimate)
  • 1 tbsp sugar (estimate)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (estimate)
  • Coriander leaves for garnish

Steps:

Start by preparing all ingredients. Chop the shallots, garlic, ginger, and tomatoes.

In a large pot, add a little water and roughly chopped tomatoes.

Add chopped garlic, ginger, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and a pinch of salt to the pot.

Add kasuri methi and half cup yogurt. Mix well and let it cook until tomatoes are soft.

Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the tomatoes are fully cooked and soft.

In a separate bowl, mix the chicken with ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, and salt for the first marination. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan and add kashmiri chili powder. Let it cook for a minute.

Add marinated chicken pieces to the pan and cook on medium-high heat until they get good grill marks. Flip and cook on the other side.

Once tomatoes are cooked, blend the mixture into a smooth puree using a blender.

Strain the blended puree into a clean pot to get a smooth gravy.

Add the grilled chicken pieces into the strained gravy and mix well.

Add heavy cream, a little sugar for sweetness, and cook for another 2-4 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the flavors are well combined.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
